The economy desperately wants to crash. Obama won the election. And I found some new friends.
VAT is dropping by 2.5%. On the surface this may seem great, but it doesn’t take a genius to work out that someone will have to pay for this. There is even speculation that VAT will rise from 15% to 22.5% when the crisis is over. We will go from ‘Rip-off Britain’ to ‘Slightly-less-but-mostly-the-same-rip-off Britain’ to ‘Super-rip-off Britain’. Mr Brown and Mr Darling: you are killing the pound and our economy. Saving a few pence will not help anyone. Can’t you just put the 2.5% back in to the banking system?
I do think that the problems will continue for a good three to four years. But during this time, a new breed of businessmen and woman will learn how to survive with little or no funds. They will be able to survive in tough times, and thrive when the markets are strong. Obama’s recent victory brings hope to millions of people, so maybe the economy will boost as soon as he is sworn in to power. We can only hope. But enough of that.
On Friday, I went out with a bunch of new people from college. It was refreshing. It was very, very cold. I enjoyed it a lot more than my normal Friday nights. I met loads of great new people. I’d definitely like to go around with this group more often.
In other news:
• I am organising two gigs in February. I’m designing the promo stuff at the moment and asking bands. If you are in a band and would like to play, then send me a link of your stunning music and I’ll consider you! Full details announced next month.
• College is still very lame. But the people make it cool. But there is no college on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday morning and the whole Friday.
• I no longer want a Mac. I have resorted to using Windows XP on a Mac. The GUI annoys me. The fact that there is no way to separate the programs you have open from all the programs in the dock pisses me off! Any Mac users: please tell me if there is a way to get around this.
• I’m pretty excited about Fall Out Boy’s new album Folie à Deux, which is coming out in December. But don’t tell anyone. On a related note..
New music I’m listening to this month:
• Coldplay - Prospekt’s March
• You, Me, and Everyone We Know - So Young, So Insane
• Chris Faller (Former The Hush Sound bassist) - Burma (Demo)
I hoped for better in November, and November has been pretty good so far. So here’s to Futures.
