Well as you may or may not know, I started at Esher college this week. First impressions - it’s better than school, but I still don’t think that I fit in to the education system very well. While there is more freedom and flexibility, which I am grateful for, I still would rather be doing my own thing. But on the other hand, I am doing my own thing in the form of 10 hours of media a week.
On a slightly related note, our media classroom has 21 iMacs. It’s awesome. The college is preparing to become a Apple Authorized Training Centre, which means that during the second year I might be able to become Apple Certified which is something that would definitely boost my future career/business. I’ll be an Apple expert by the time college is up!
It’s been a while since I have produced any videos, so I am really psyched with the possibility of creating two or three new videos. Part of our first piece of coursework is to create a magazine cover. How about the future Hazardous Ink site but in magazine form? Seems like it could work to me! Fire up the Fireworks!
Business Studies is pretty cool too. A week in and it’s my favourite subject so far. I am currently doing the AS level but assuming the course continues like it has in the past week then I would consider continuing it for the full A Level.
ICT is my least favourite subject out of the three. I can see it will be a very demanding course, with few perks. But the fact is - I can do it, and I can do it well. Maybe it will teach me something new.. but I doubt it. And apparently we are going to Thorpe Park for some strange reason. Pretty random huh? It’s for coursework apparently.
As for friends, I’ve met loads of great new people. But it somehow doesn’t seem right. Maybe I am just not settled in yet. It takes time to make friends who will change your life. I suppose I just have to find those people again.
In other news :
• Free periods are very boring.
• I am utterly useless at remembering the names of the many people I have met.
• Liberata should have their contract ripped up after the shambles with the EMA forms - £16 Million a year to process a few thousand forms. It’s pretty simple guys.
• I am somewhat excited by Razia’s Shadow. The clips sound awesome.
• I hate pseudo people.
• ‘Friends’ who don’t make an effort simply don’t deserve it. Go play your silly games elsewhere. I’m glad you went to a different college. You know who you are.
• I love the feeling of someone saying ‘Hi’ to you when you don’t know who they are.
How are you finding college so far?
